In the story, there are multiple universes. Each universe tends to get a single person in it with certain abilities. This person is called a Genesis Being (name pending). Genesis Beings are able to break one of the biggest laws of physics: that atoms cannot be destroyed or created. Genesis Beings can break down atoms, convert it into energy, and then churn it back out as a completely new material. Destroyed matter turns to creation energy, and creating matter builds up destruction energy. This energy is stored in the Being's body, and can cause large amounts of strain if they attempt to hold too much of a certain energy at one time. Thus, the Being must try to keep a balance of energy at all times.
Creation/destructive energy is seen in the physical realm as the Being's aura. The aura can determine two things; an attribute, as in something the Being specializes in; as well as the "nature" of the Being (i use quotation marks cuz thats basically the shittiest way to describe it). To give an example, Cat has an aura of white flame. The white shows that his attribute is mayhem, and the fire shows that he handles things with overwhelming, uncontrolled force.
